This seminar contrasts the differences between what the financial services community uses to sell an investment versus what historical evidence shows to actually provide the greatest investment return. The financial services community sells an investment product that appeals to human nature, but the best long-term returns come from a very different type of investment.

Retirement Plans for Small Businesses

This presentation compares and contrasts retirement plans in terms of costs, complexity, tax consequences, and expected investment returns. The SEP (Simplified Employee Pension) and SIMPLE (Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees) are highlighted as ideal plans for businesses with under 100 employees. Small businesses learn how to:

- lower business taxes by as much as $15,000 per year

- shelter up to $30,000 per year per employee from personal taxes

- increase retirement income tenfold over conventional retirement plans

- implement a low cost, low complexity retirement plan for $25.62

This presentation addresses the individuals need for a retirement plan, appropriate levels of risk and return, and appropriate types of investments for retirement plans. The object of the presentation is to help individuals get past the emotional aspects of investing (fear and greed), and move toward making decisions based on investment goals. This seminar discusses the major points of the Tax Relief Act of 1997 as they pertain to investing, including the new SIMPLE and ROTH IRAs, new capital gains tax rates, and new estate tax implications. The SIMPLE is presented as an excellent way for business owners to defer salary taxes, and the ROTH as a way to accumulate a large tax-free portfolio.
